2. Biography of son, Stephen John Brinker, pp. 1103-1106 of
"Old & New Westmoreland." Has info on the family of John Moser Brinker.
Says he moved the family from Butler Co. to the Ligonier Valley., Westmoreland Co.
about 1840, and that Stephen John Brinker had been born on his father's farm in
Clearfield Twp., Butler Co. on 31 Oct. 1836. This appears to contradict the
story in the following biography.
3. Biography of son, Carson Brooks Brinker, pp. 1063-1066 of "Old &
New Westmoreland". Says "Shortly after his marriage, John M. Brinker went
to Vanderburg Co., Indiana, and settled at a point one mile from the town of
Evansville...there he remained a number of years, farming and operating a boat
on the Ohio River. In the year 1842, however, he returned to PA and settled in
Westmoreland county, about 7 miles south of Ligonier...where he became the
possessor of land consisting of some 467 acres, which was given to him by his
father [Abraham Brinker]. He remained at this place until 1873...went to Hicksville,
Defiance county, Ohio, and settled on a farm about 3 miles outside that place..."
[Much more family info.]
